Full stack web architect

GenomSys is looking for a full stack web architect responsible for designing, developing and managing a Django application in charge of supporting the interchange of genomic data between servers and clients, and of processing of the same genomic data.

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to strengthen our team and help us translate our product strategy into detailed requirements, prototypes, and polished products. If you are experienced in building great software products, are detail-oriented, self-driven and ambitious, we would love to meet you. We seeking someone that ideally has prior knowledge of medical software products, and has previously worked gathering user requirements from doctors or other medical professionals. You must possess outstanding market research & writing skills, be able to build a clear and convincing product strategy, be able to sell your ideas and listen to feedback. You will work closely with the business development and sales teams, participate in strategy discussions, and help find new customers as well as listen to the current ones. You will be expected to work hand-in-hand with Marketing to plan product launch activities and assist them in understanding customer needs & priorities. Ultimately, you should be able to act as the face and voice of the products you help design, championing them within the organisation and beyond.

This role is based in our head office in Lausanne and presents an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing startup in an exciting area of life-sciences: Software for genomic data processing.

 

Responsibilities

  • Gain a deep understanding of customer experience, identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth

Requirements

  • Fluent English, as well as at least one other European language (Preferably French or German)
  • Proven work experience in product management

Business Developer

As part of GenomSys’ growth strategy, we are looking to hire a Business Developer to join our growing team. The Business Development will be a key member of the business development team working closely to progress initiatives that support GenomSys’ business strategy. We are looking for someone who can combine strategic thinking and sharp executions coupled with relentless ambition and energy to reach target goals. Our ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic capable of thriving in a high growth, fast paced and intellectual environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of the business development cycle to successfully close, including opportunity development, proposal development, implementation estimating, project scoping, client presentations, negotiation and close;
  • Collaborate with the Sales Engineer for the technical specification of the proposals;
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events;
  • Assist with core business development activities, such as generating pitch decks and communicating with clients
  • Seek out new market insights and business opportunities through research and analysis
  • Provide competitive intelligence on competitors

Full Stack Web Architect

As part of GenomSys’ growth strategy, we are looking to hire a Full Stack Web Architect. This role is based in Lausanne and presents an excellent opportunity to join us at the start of our exciting scale-up programme.

GenomSys is looking for a Full Stack Web Architect responsible for designing, developing and managing the Django application in charge of supporting the interchange of genomic data between servers and clients, and of processing of the same genomic data. Your primary focus will be the design and development of all server-side logic, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. Knowledge of front end developed with VueJS or other equivalent JS framework would be a huge asset as you will also be responsible for integrating front-end elements built either by you or your co-workers into the application; a basic understanding of front-end technologies is necessary anyway. A particular focus on security will require at least basic knowledge of strong authentication, content protection through cryptography and digital signature, and secure channel establishment (SSL, SSH tunnels, VPN).

Responsibilities

  • Design and implementation of low-latency, high-availability, scalable, and performance efficient web applications
  • Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code
  • Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic

Summary

The successful candidate  will integrate the existing team of experienced software and system engineers; according to the specific profile of the selected candidate, the work will consist in developing either genome sequencing data compression/transport libraries in compliance with the MPEG-G standard (with a participation to the standard development) or end-user applications such as editing tools or access control applications for the secure manipulation of existing data. The specific topic will be determined more in depth for every candidate through the process of mentored proposal preparation.

Responsibilities

  • software design and development (C/C++, other languages for GUIs) of genome sequencing data processing applications (compression/transport/manipulation/browsing)
  • integration of the implementation either in the existing GenomSys solution or in partner’s software
  • preparation of technical reports and input documentation for the test team

Qualifications

  • holding Ph.D. (or 4 years of experience in research) in computer science, bioinformatics or computational biology by September 2020 (MSCA IF requirement)
  • less than 3 years of living in Switzerland in the 5 years before 11 September 2020 (MSCA IF requirement)
  • very good knowledge of programming C/C++
  • (optional but highly desirable) knowledge of genome sequencing data formats and/or genome sequencing data analysis applications
  • very good knowledge of English (German and/or French are an asset)
