GenomSys will be participating at the BioTechX (formerly known as BioData World Congress) in Basel from November 8th– 10th.

Every year some of the world’s most influential decision-makers in genomic data participate in the BioTechX Congress. BioTechX is Europe’s largest congress covering big data in pharmaceutical development and healthcare. The congress was initially designed through a partnership with EMBL-EBI and the Sanger Institute five years ago to tackle the issues of driving big data into the clinic and pharmaceutical development in the most streamlined way possible.

GenomSys will be presenting a poster on how to tackle the typical challenges of Big Data in genomics due to the booming capacity of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology, which is even more complicated by the personal nature of the processed DNA information.

GenomSys Claudio AlbertiI look forward to interacting with the many highly qualified participants attending BioTechX. This in-person event will be an excellent opportunity to discuss how the growing need to handle Big Data in genomics can be more efficiently tackled. Our unique platform approach, based on the ISO/IEC 23092 (MPEG-G) standard, can help processing large amounts of data more efficiently so that researchers, geneticists, and any professional in genomics can focus on their actual work and not worry about the “IT” around it.”

says Claudio Alberti, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of GenomSys.

GenomSys led and substantially contributed to the development and publication in 2020 of the new and only ISO standard for genomic data (ISO/IEC 23092 MPEG-G, “the MP3 equivalent for genomic data”), fostering innovation and interoperability.

Our solutions reduce overall costs (storage needs -70%), speed up data transmission and analyses, facilitate data reuse, assure privacy and guarantee quality and robustness. Swiss-level safe, ISO-13485 quality certified.

GenomSys developed its MPEG-G Genomic Platform, an integrated cloud platform for genomic data processing and sharing compliant with ISO/IEC 23092 MPEG-G genomic standard, for manufacturers of genomic applications, such as sequencers or genomic analysis software.

The platform includes state-of-the-art bioinformatic pipelines – MPEG-G native – providing efficient secondary analysis of genomic data, easy to integrate in sequencing machines and/or in tertiary analyses applications. And it includes GenomSys MPEG-G Tool Kit, consisting of CE-marked software tools to implement the ISO/IEC 23092 (MPEG-G) standard features.

Furthermore, GenomSys Variant Analyzer, a CE-marked IVD MD germline analysis software, allows genomic laboratories to analyze whole exome datasets for a single individual or trio analysis. Pairing analysis software with GenomSys MPEG-G Tool Kit can establish an automated workflow in the more efficient ISO standard MPEG-G.

GenomSys Tiziana RosaI look forward to seeing the recent developments on handling data in genomics at BioTechX and particularly discussing the topic of Big Data with potential partners. Our innovative software solutions based on the first ISO standard for genomic data (ISO/IEC 23092, MPEG-G) can help with the challenges of Big Data. In addition to a standard framework, our solutions guarantee superior performance and scalability benefits than existing solutions and legacy formats. They can foster innovations in genomics and personalized medicine where the ability to rapidly and securely store, analyze, retrieve and share unprecedented volumes of data is crucial.”

says Tiziana Rosa, Chief Innovation and Partnership Officer of GenomSys.
